Mazón: "I was going to greet the president of the employers' association, the Minister of Economy, and the government representative, but they've left."

The president of the Generalitat (Catalan government) is the protagonist of the anecdote of the Night of the Economy, when he criticized the fact that several officials left the event without completing it.
"I had it prepared. I was also going to greet the president of the employers' association, the Minister of Economy, and the Government delegate, but I can't because they've left." This was how Carlos Mazón, president of the Generalitat, began his speech, closing the Valencian Economic Night, the business event organized by the Valencia Chamber of Commerce.
Mazón had already greeted the mayor of Valencia and continued his speech, which became the most talked-about anecdote of the event.
Where were those authorities?According to the organization's teams consulted after the incident, the Minister of Economy, Carlos Cuerpo, who had spoken before the awards ceremony, had already warned that he would have to leave the event without finishing. In fact, they point out that this led to the need to change the order of the speeches, including Mazón's, so he should have known in advance that Cuerpo would no longer be in the room for his address.
The absence of the Government delegate was linked to that of the minister.
Regarding the president of the regional employers' association CEV, Salvador Navarro , the organization explained that he was absent from the Night of the Economy to attend a dinner organized by a national business association , specifically the refrigerated transport sector (Atfrie), which is holding its annual congress in Valencia these days.
They point out that the representation of the employers' association was guaranteed with the presence of Eva Blasco , president of the provincial association CEV Valencia, and that it was appropriate since the event was organized by the Valencia Chamber of Commerce, also at the provincial level.
Emotional tribute to Miguel BurdeosAll those who spoke at the event had a heartfelt tribute to businessman Miguel Burdeos , founder and president of SPB, who died in the Dana mine and was a member of the Chamber's board. His family accepted the award for his business career, which was granted posthumously. "Miguel Burdeos is no longer physically with us, but his legacy is part of the Valencian business DNA," said José Vicente Morata, president of the Valencia Chamber of Commerce, during his speech.
The remaining awards went to Transportes A. Martín (Business Management Model Excellence Award); Juan Motilla (Internationalization Promotion Award); Sociedad de Agricultores de la Vega (Business Innovation Award); AEOL Services SLU (Digital Economy Award); and Logopost (Socially Committed Company Award). The guest country was the People's Republic of China, and the distinction for business collaboration between Valencia and China went to CSP Logitren.
